Helping to Align Health Care Systems and Health
Everything changes over time. Health care needs to adapt as those changes occur, which is why Vitalyst continues its focus on systems change for improved health outcomes. In FY2019, Vitalyst:
- Co-facilitated and supported a sixth successful year of the Cover Arizona Coalition. The coalition contributed to enrollment of 161,000 Arizonans into 2019 Health Insurance Marketplace coverage.
- Advocated with a broad coalition to successfully continue funding of KidsCare, Arizona’s Children’s Health Insurance Program.
- Continued support, advocacy and co-leadership of Arizona’s Mobile Integrated Healthcare/Community Paramedicine Network, focused on expanding positive systems transformation statewide – including the key step of tapping into the potential of the Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services’ Emergency Triage, Treat and Transport Initiative.
- Took new steps toward ensuring a stronger healthcare workforce, including:
- helping to pass state legislation establishing a workforce database that can standardize reporting and inform workforce planning.
- helping to pass legislation to expand and reimburse for telehealth practice in areas lacking specialists.
- convening and contributing to stakeholder groups for healthcare licensure.
- Helped to pass legislation for consistently practiced and reported children’s K-12 vision screening – with Vitalyst also provided financing for screening equipment.
We all benefit from a healthcare system that’s designed to produce health. Twenty-three years from our founding, Vitalyst remains an energized and motivated collaborator in the creation and mobilization of changes that improve health quality and outcomes, while reducing health care costs.
