Arizona 2020 Census Count Success
Census 2020 is complete, and Arizona has added a seat. According KJZZ and the Arizona Capitol Times, consulting firm Election Data Services is projecting that Arizona will be awarded another representative in Congress for 2022. It’s an outcome that many in Arizona hoped for, given the state’s growth, and an outcome made possible thanks to a multitude of census volunteers and hard-working community partners statewide.
If Arizona is confirmed to have earned a tenth seat in the House of Representatives, then the next step will be to redraw ten districts across the state that each contain about 742,000 residents. It’s a process known as redistricting, and next month you can count on Vitalyst releasing a Spark Brief on the topic.
Congratulations, Arizona. Representation is an important indicator of civic health, and key to Arizonans’ access to resources for well-being. Celebrate the news of another Arizona Congressional seat this month, and get ready for the Redistricting Spark Brief in February.
