Gary J. Volkenant, CPA, CFE, retired in 2014 following an illustrious twenty-eight year career at Arizona Public Service Company. While previously head of its Audit Department, its Rate and Regulatory Department and its Financial Services Department, Gary most recently served for the last several years as its Director of Corporate Initiatives, reporting to the Company’s President and CEO, focused on a variety of senior level executive projects. Gary is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Fraud Examiner and also spent nine years with the CPA firm of Deloitte and Co. in Minneapolis and Phoenix. As a Minnesota native, Gary and his wife moved to Phoenix in 1979. Gary remains active in various civic and professional organizations, including being a past Chairman of the Board of the Better Business Bureau of Central and Northern Arizona, a multiple-term Chairman of its Foundation Board, a past board member of Hospice of the Valley and a past President and Distinguished Lieutenant Governor within the Southwest District of Kiwanis International.
