Capacity Building for a New Decade
Vitalyst celebrated a new decade of engagement in enhancing community nonprofit capacity by first overhauling and refining its stable of “TAP Tools” and then streamlining the process to access them. The framework attracted nearly 100 applicants and netted nearly 30 new partnerships. We recruited new national frameworks to Arizona, including Coalition and Nonprofit Lifecycle frameworks, Ready Next Executive Roundtables and the Community Leadership Accelerator. Vitalyst was honored to help support Arizona Gives Day and its record-breaking, $6.1 million dollar success. The Arizona Together for Impact Fund completed its first year of providing timely funding and technical assistance with the support of Vitalyst and 15 other funders.
The TAP Tools network was expanded statewide, with particular focus in Apache, Coconino, Gila and Pima counties in addition to a year’s worth of bi-weekly TAP Tips emails that promoted both Vitalyst and like-minded partner capacity-building opportunities. Vitalyst also formally signed onto the Grantmakers United for Trans Communities (GUTC) Pledge and directly promoted TAP Tools with organizations led by and serving LGBTQ communities.
These efforts had the combined effect of more than doubling Vitalyst’s technical assistance volume in FY20, mobilizing consultants and coaches for strategic planning, fundraising, board development, organizational development coaching, communications, community engagement, and leadership coaching. In response, Vitalyst also worked to expand its pool of available consultants and partners statewide.
