Strong Community Partners

Strong Community Partners

Advancing health equity takes all of us. This means community leaders, organizations and coalitions must be strong at all levels. That is why at at Vitalyst we know supporting our partners so they are able to do their day-to-day work is the path to equity. When nonprofit partners have the infrastructure in place that ensures programmatic and financial goals are achieved, the focus goes back to serving the community.

Fund and leverage funding

By providing funding to partners to perform their daily operations or work on specific initiatives, we ensure work gets done at the community level. Sometimes this means providing programmatic funding to organizations or using our position as a philanthropic organization to bring other funders to the table. The goal is always the same: providing tools and resources to nonprofit partners working to make our communities healthier.

Provide technical assistance tools

Vitalyst offers technical assistance resources to community-based leaders, organizations, and coalitions as Technical Assistance Partnerships (TAP) Tools. These are streamlined through a TAP Discovery process so partners are referred to the appropriate TAP Tools. For more information about our initiatives, scroll down.

TAPAZ

Sometimes good people are doing great work together but don’t have a legal entity to stand behind them. Just as often, when a group of existing nonprofit organizations work together, some of the partners may feel uncomfortable leading the way from a legal standpoint. Additionally, a group of people may simply agree to work together, but there is no way for them to secure funding without a legal structure. This TAP Tool offers crucial fiscal management support and helps build organizational capacity.

Fiscal Sponsorship:

This tool allows TAPAZ to accept and disburse funds for a project’s activities, providing a faster way for groups to establish a legal framework for operating without having to start a 501(c)3 organization from scratch. This allows nonprofits to focus on carrying out their mission.

Technical Assistance:

TAPAZ provides a broad range of consultative, administrative, and “back office” functions. This allows projects to focus on their community passion and not be bogged down with administrative requirements.  For more information about TAPAZ partnerships, please review these FAQ’s.

TAP Talks

Offered each year as professional development sessions, participants gain knowledge, skills, and practices in an interactive workshop format about timely issues facing the non-profit community. Attendees meet colleagues with common challenges and successes, and they are able to build relationships with one another for support. Each TAP Talk includes a presentation on a key topic impacting organizations where attendees are encouraged to share their experiences. To learn more, click here.

TAP Team

To support the development of dynamic and healthy communities, Vitalyst intentionally builds relationships with consultants who are interested in aiding non-profit capacity building.  Vitalyst is committed to growing a Team of consultants in and for rural Arizona, and a Team of emerging consultants of color who reflect the community-based partners we work with.  If you are an Arizona-based contractor interested in joining the TAP Team, please complete this intake form.
