St. Luke’s Health Initiatives’ 2009 grants are:
- Arizona Facts of Life, receiving $35,000 to support a youth development effort through community engagement
- ASU College of Nursing and Healthcare Innovation/ASU Foundation, receiving $60,393 to support the development of Promotores Hope Network – a community of practice for promotores.
- Childhelp Community Center, receiving $90,000 to support the Childhelp Community Center in a youth development effort.
- Community Food Connections, receiving $45,000 to expand the Downtown Phoenix Public Market.
- Father Matters, receiving $49,500 to create “Community Resilience From Within: Everyone Can Be An Asset”.
- Greater Valley Area Health Education Center/Empowerment Systems, Inc., receiving $150,000 to support the development of the Arizona Living Well Institute.
- International Rescue Committee, receiving $50,000 to establish the start up for Language Interpreting Network Connections (LINC).
- John C. Lincoln Health Network, receiving $24,755 to implement a substance use/abuse community assessment in Sunnyslope.
- Maricopa Council on Youth, Sports and Physical Activity, receiving $23,000 to create an interactive map and resource directory that documents healthy food accessibility.
- Phoenix Day, receiving $53,600 to implement neighborhood community building for the Central Park Neighborhood of South Phoenix.
- Regional Community Partners/Maricopa Association of Governments, receiving $25,320 to develop and implement a regional plan ending domestic violence.
- Rehoboth CDC, receiving $50,000 to fund the Canyon Corridor Neighborhood Alliance (CCNA) project.
- Scottsdale Prevention Institute, receiving $40,345 to support outreach efforts that expand and integrate the influence of community-based coalitions.
- Somali Bantu Development Community of Phoenix/Mountain Park Health Center, receiving $53,400 to support “Social Networks as a Resource: Improving Health and Empowering Somali Bantu Refugee Women”.
- Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS, receiving $52,664 to develop a transitional youth program.
- St. Joseph’s Foundation, receiving $29,150 to transition Tier 3 of a S^3 Swim Program to Tier 4.
- Tempe First United Methodist Church, receiving $30,000 to support urban outreach, a program to help homeless people move from a place of crisis to stability.
- The Centers for Habilitation, receiving $12,000 to develop the family support group: “J.O.E.,” Just Our Experiences.
- TigerMountain Foundation/Tanner Community Development Corporation, receiving $45,340 to develop and maintain a group of community gardens.
- U of A Visionary Inter-Professional Health Sciences Training in Arizona (VIHSTA), receiving $36,000 to support “An Exploratory Study of the Effects of an Interprofessional Student Training Program on Community Resilience”.
- Valley Interfaith Project/Arizona Institute for Public Life, receiving $125,000to expand a high-skill healthcare workforce strategy.
- Wesley Community Center, receiving $40,000 to expand community capacity that addresses health and safety.
