Have You Read the Health Care Reform Bill?
Many different groups are putting out disinformation and misinformation about what is being discussed in Washington about health care reform. A friend passed the following item on to me this morning, telling me our readers might find it interesting.
I found something that you might find worth talking about.
After seeing Maddow’s piece on the GOP being behind the town hall shout fests (and hearing about one coming up today in AZ), just for kicks, I went to AZ Rep Nancy Barto’s (R) site to see what she’s got to say specifically about H.R. 3200. I don’t have much time to mess with this, so I spot checked one item:
Barto’s site (above link) clearly states: “Sec. 1711, Pg. 764 – The government will require preventative services – including vaccinations (no choice). ”
Forced vaccinations?? Wow, pretty scary. Downright dystopian. So I looked it up, went straight to p.764 of the bill (it was nice of Barto to provide a link), and it actually says “required COVERAGE” of preventative services. In other words, no required vaccines; the plan is required to PAY for vaccines. That is so misleading it’s insane. It’s either deliberately meant to mislead or she’s too stupid to understand the text of the bill. Either way, not qualified for office, IMO.
There were problems with her other comments that I spot-checked, but you get the idea.
This kind of misinformation isn’t just given out by one political party. The bill we are debating is 1000 pages long, and few politicians have read it. So don’t believe everything about proposed reforms that you read. Go back to the original source.
