Redistricting is a critical step to ensuring civic health, healthcare, and community health infrastructure. The state and counties engage in redistricting every ten years, as well as many cities across the state. That is why Vitalyst is releasing its “Why Redistricting Matters” brief as the process picks up speed. This is the next step following each Census toward adequate and equitable funding for programs like Medicaid (known as AHCCCS in Arizona), the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and elevating the voices of communities that have been marginalized.

Why Redistricting Matters will bring you up to speed on the Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission (AIRC), and which eight of Arizona’s 19 charter cities conduct their own local process. There are multiple ways to engage and provide input so that community well-being can get the representation and resources it deserves

Work is already underway. The U.S. Census Bureau will deliver preliminary results to President Biden on April 30, which will trigger more activity. Be prepared to engage. Download “Why Redistricting Matters” today.
